Warner Bros unleashing THE TERMINATOR on the MUSEUM!!!

Warner Bros. have some big balls. The first non-Arnold Schwarznegger TERMINATOR movie will open on May 22nd 2009, the Memorial day weekend which puts it in direct competition against Fox's NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2: ESCAPE FROM THE SMITHSONIAN, a sequel to the massive $250 million DOMESTIC hit say Variety. It's a bizarre move, because there are many dates in next year's summer calendar yet to be attached with a tentpole release.

Now granted, both films will be going for different audiences but just like LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD and RATATOUILLE last Summer - the move will only cut into the opening weekend audience of both projects. Neither of them will particularly benefit from this joust. Of course if both movies are good then it won't matter and people will see them eventually, though you also have to put into contention the fact that ANGELS & DEMONS (a prequel to one of the biggest films of all time in DA VINCI CODE) and Pixar's UP, a studio who frequently produce massive domestic hits are opening the week before, and the week after respectively. It's a packed month for movies as the summer really kicks off early May next year. TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE FUTURE BEGINS, the beginning of a brand new story trilogy in the franchise will begin shooting next month in New Mexico with Christian Bale (as John Connor) and Sam Worthington to star. Academy award winner Javier Bardem is "much wanted" for the role of the TERMINATOR. In other news... Variety also report that the fourth TERMINATOR movie will be released internationally by Sony. In other news... Hank Azaria has revealed his role in the film will be that of the villain, a disgruntled Egyptian pharaoh that comes to life. He also confirms that Steve Coogan, Owen Wilson and Ricky Gervais will return for cameo's. Still no word on Robin Williams.
