2. The Handmaid's Tale

An adaptation of Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale has been a long-time coming - probably because of the disastrous 1990 attempt that even the most charitable of viewers would agree was awful.

The new series - coming exclusively to Hulu (and hopefully somewhere else in Europe) - is based on Atwood's explosive, important story (which seems to grow in importance these days, unfortunately), and stars Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss. It looks great and horrifying in equal measure, and even those former schoolkids with memories of being forced to read it at GCSE should find something to entertain them here.

Clearly Melissa McCarthy is game for anything. And Kia have a lot of money to spend on effects.
