Watch Me While I Kill: Top 20 Italian Giallo Films

15. The Night Evelyn Came Out of The Grave (1971)

the night evelyn came out of the grave This is a total cheeseball film. It is impossible to take anything in it seriously. The plot concerns Lord Alan Cunningham who is recovering from a nervous breakdown. He procures red haired prostitutes and tortures and kills them in his castle. The source of this instability? Grief for his dead wife Evelyn. More killings ensue and Lord Cunningham's family members are dispatched off after he marries a redhead who resembles Evelyn. Demented with grief he goes to Evelyn's tomb to find her a-rising... This movie is so funny. It is greatly enhanced by the incredible Erika Blanc giving a strip show out of a coffin for Lord Cunningham. There are foxes eating human entrails. A hammier than Spam performance by the guy who plays Lord Cunningham. It has strong gothic elements to mesh with the Giallo skeleton of the film. It contains cheesy SM torture scenes and a genius Bruno Nicolai score. One to watch with your mates after imbibing... Substances.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
