Watch UNDERWORLD AWAKENING Trailer - It's Very Blue!

Are they going to be making Underworld and Resident Evil movies until the end of time? Seems that way. This year (well technically next year as this isn't coming out till January 20th) it's the turn of the leather fetish Gothic Vamp franchise to return with Underworld: Awakening, which if you've just waking up to this series is the fourth film in the canon, following on from the events of Underworld: Evolution (the 2nd picture). After the diverting prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans that featured Rhona Mitra as a different character- original star Kate Beckinsale is now back in the fold as Selene and Screen Gems clearly hope they cross that $100 million worldwide number the last movie she did in the franchise. Beckinsale returns as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

Swedish duo Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein (Shelter) directed the movie that Len Wiseman produced based on a script penned by John Hlavin (The Shield) and went through some revisions by J. Michael Straczynski (Ninja Assassin, Changeling, and Spider-Man comic book writer). It's coming January 20th, 2012, if you are interested.
