Headless is an absolutely metal reimagining of the Headless Horseman mythology from The Spierig Brothers (Daybreakers, Predestination).
The film follows a hitchhiker and a vengeful woman who team up to take on a motorcycle-riding semi-immortal ghoul which rides along desert highways slaughtering people and feeding off the resulting mayhem.
The only way to defeat the entity? Decapitate it, separate its head from its still-living body, and get it far, far away.
Basically, this sounds like an unlicensed remix of Marvel's Ghost Rider, recasting the iconic character as a murderous antagonist, while the announcement press release has likened it to both Mad Max and The Terminator. What's not to like here?
Though we haven't seen any official images or footage from the recently wrapped film yet, the poster goes insanely hard, while promising that heads will roll.
If the Spierig Brothers give this the full-throttle treatment it so clearly deserves, it could be a rare reimagining of a classic horror property that's actually worthwhile.
