Westworld: 10 Key Offbeat Westerns To Watch Next

8. A Million Ways To Die In The West

Though Blazing Saddles was the definitive spoof Western, it stuck pretty close to the format and was an enjoyable tribute as much as a rule bender. Seth MacFarlane's A Million Ways To Die In The West on the other hand took the genre one step beyond and into a new dimension altogether.

Director/star MacFarlane played sheep farmer Albert Stark, whose yellow-bellied behaviour during a duel led to him embarking on a epic adventure where he battled against the environment itself, which seemed to be doing its best to kill him.

Throw in some drug-fuelled antics and a range of guest appearances from the likes of Jamie Foxx and Christopher Lloyd (as characters from other movies) and you were left with something pretty uncategorizable.

As you'd expect from the creator of Family Guy and Ted everything was up for grabs, with his approach to the material as scattergun as a bandit with Saint Vitus Dance. MacFarlane didn't shirk when it came to research, which made the deranged end result all the more striking.

Once again, the Marmite comedian laughed all the way to the bank.
