When you think about it, Batman movies haven't had the best naming conventions (Batman and The Dark Knight aside). If Matt Reeves goes with The Batman he will be continuing that uninspiring trend, but it won't be as bad as the rumoured title for Burton's Batman III - Batman Continues.

That must have taken all of about 13 seconds of creative strategising around a big shiny table. Seemingly without any sort of thought for plot implications - at this stage they're just banking on nobody looking past the first word.
