3. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
The Movie: As Frodo and Sam near Mordor, their relationship is straining. Gollums split personalities, tricks and schemes are having a negative effect on Frodos mental state, but the ever loyal Samwise is as-reluctant-as-ever to leave his friend behind. Not far behind them, Aragorn, Gandalf and the rest have emerged victorious at their respective battles. But Helms Deep and Isengard were just the beginning. With Gondor under constant threat from Saurons armies (more and more appear at the gates of Mordor every day), the riders of Rohan must march to answer their call for aid. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli arrive later, with the King of the Dead and his men in tow, to help Gondor in the epic battle of Pelennor Fields. Suffering heavy casualties, but emerging victorious once again, Aragorn heir to the throne of Gondor arranges for their men to ride out, calling Saurons orcs out from Mordor, to allow Frodo and Sam the chance to travel unseen through to Mount Doom, in order to destroy the ring, Sauron, and entirety of Mordor.
What It Says About You: You are a brave individual and not afraid to risk your life for that of your friends. Silly things like gender roles do not stand in your way, and you are willing to do what is right regardless of personal cost. Over time, you have come to understand that everyone is meant for different things: some will become great leaders, others are content living peacefully with their families, and then there are those who know that they are meant for a place far away from home, despite how difficult it may be to leave there. Although you do also have a lot of trouble saying goodbye, often popping your head back in to declare: Just one more thing! Those around you may stifle sighs and shift restlessly, but when you eventually do leave, its on an ambivalent note. And possibly to the stirrings of a sombre Annie Lennox song.
Soundbite: Its a great ending to the trilogy. Really, it is. Dont you think? Wait, just a quick question, what did you think of the overall themes? Who was your favourite character? Did you have a favourite scene? ... Frodo? You still there? No? Okay."
