What's Predator's home-world like?
Need another reason to see Alien vs. Predator 2 after that cool trailer? How about the home planet of Predator?
The Strause Brothers deserve a huge round of applause for actually convincing me to even contemplate going to to the theatre to see Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. After Paul W.S. Anderson's original it was going to have to take something special and ya know, that trailer a few weeks back was mighty cool. Better than I expected for sure and at least it had some frantic energy about it. The movie will probably be shit but at least it looks like they are giving things a go and actually delivering the type of movie that fans want to see. Shock Till You Drop are reporting the scoop from an anonymous source that parts of the sequel will be taking place on Predator's home planet, marking the first time we have ever seen what his home-land looks like on film. This scoop seems to have been backed up by a new interview in Fangoria where the brothers say the movie will feature 'a whole new world'. Predator's home land? That's pretty cool right? Apparently Robert Rodriguez once had a script rejected which was set around Predator's home land but because the budget would have been something like $150 million on the ambitious things he scribed, it never got made. One of the big reasons the Alien movies work so well is because they are set in space which immediately gives them a claustrophobic atmosphere that suits it's story. Having parts of the movie on another planet may not add to the claustrophobic feeling per-say but it will add another dimension and bring with it another interesting factor than another boring movie on Earth, a place where the Alien character certainly doesn't belong. How much of the movie is on Predator's planet I don't know. The recent trailer only showcased footage from Earth. Alien vs. Predator 2: Requiem opens on Christmas Day and you just never know. It might be worth the trip after all.
