Which Suicide Squad Movie Is Better?
4. Action Sequences
David Ayer proved with Fury that he knows how to craft an exciting and intense action sequence, and it was expected that he'd bring a similar level of energy to his Suicide Squad.
But regardless of the film's post-production issues, it's tough to deny that the set-pieces just aren't very interesting.
The Squad spends most of the movie fighting Enchantress' generic zombie-things in bland, poorly-lit environments, and it's painfully clear that more time needed to be spend on coming up with creative action which showcased each character's abilities and personalities.
Gunn's movie is basically the polar opposite: every single action beat is distinctive and imaginative, making liberal use of its permissive R rating to deliver creatively deranged carnage that actually serves the characters themselves.
WINNER: 2021 by a landslide, and it's not even close.
