Ferrell's onscreen couplings never make that much sense - Eva Mendes? Christina Applegate? Come on - but his pairing with Nicole Kidman in Bewitched fails to justify itself in any way, shape or form. The pair lack chemistry to such a degree that it sinks beneath terrible, the sort of thing that belongs on the deep web or in the FBI's black book. In fact, it's possibly even worse than that. I don't even know what happened here. Bewitched appeared right in the middle of Ferrell's strongest work, right in between Anchorman and Talladega Nights, yet for some reason, Ferrell doesn't even feel like he's here at all. Land of the Lost was embarrassing, but at least that's something; his role as Jack Wyatt isn't even anything. He's just a vacuum on the screen, wasting the space that could be filled by another actor who could raise this poor film to mediocrity at the very least. When Nicole Kidman gets more laughs than you in a film, that's pretty bad. When the amount of laughs Kidman gets only adds up to about two or three, that's even worse. When it happens while you're at the top of your game and storming through the world of comedy like a runaway freight train, that's terrible. It seems like Jack Wyatt is supposed to be an arrogant character who undergoes an emotional maturity, but how is that meant to come across if the actor playing him can't be bothered? This is rock bottom for Ferrell. He'd have been better off not turning up Do you disagree with the choices? Did I miss any of his best roles? Was he ever worse than he was in Bewitched?
