Will Ferrell Confirms 'Anchorman' Sequel

Ron Burgundy and the Channel 4 News Team will be gracing our cinema screens once again.

After years of will they won't they back and forth, Paramount Pictures have FINALLY confirmed that a sequel to 2004's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is in the works. The announcement was made on the Conan O'Brien show by Will Ferrell, who entered the stage in the guise of Ron Burgundy playing jazz flute and announced that Paramount Pictures have confirmed the long awaited sequel after years of development hell. Ferrel, (Ron) said:
I wanna announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey, and the UK including England. That as of 09:00 mountain time Paramount Pictures and myself Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman. It is official, there will be a sequel to Anchorman.
Despite the original making $90 million at the worldwide box office, Paramount have been unwilling to sanction a sequel to the cult classic which helped kick start the comedy movie careers of actors like Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd. However, they have finally come to an agreement and the sequel will be happening. As of yet there are no plot details, although it is comfortable to assume that Will Ferrell will reprise his role as Ron Burgundy and this will most likely be written and directed by his long term writing partner Adam McKay. Furthermore according to deadline Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd will reprise their roles as Brick Tamland and Brian Fantana respectively. Steve Carell earlier in the day tweeted 'Watch Conan tonight. You will be glad that you did.' which suggests that he will be reprising his role. As for the rest of the cast there are no immediate confirmations. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrNA7RjU91I So, everyone let out a collective sigh of relief, then go outside and dance merrily; because Ron Burgundy and the Channel 4 News Team will be gracing our cinema screens once again.
