Will Harrison Ford Appear In Star Wars: Episode 7 For A New Indiana Jones Film?
Ever since the new series of Star Wars films were announced, there has been no shortage of rumours surrounding the entire production. The latest of these rumours is a rather bizarre one centered around Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford. Screen Rant.com have recently cited that attempts to secure Ford for the new Star Wars films will involve the creation of an entire Indiana Jones film. According to Screen Rant: " may have invested long-term resources in the development of Indiana Jones 5 just to secure Harrison Ford's involvement in Star Wars: Episode 7." Jedi News and The Daily Superhero additionally suggest this "Indy for Solo" trade may actually happen. The Daily Superhero then gives us a bit more context to the rumour:
"The studio has been actively (behind closed doors) attempting to figure what to do with the franchise. Rights issues (i.e. Paramount Pictures still retains distribution control) and the poor reception of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull have made developing Indy 5 a challenge but Ford may have expedited any development hiatus by leveraging his involvement in Star Wars: Episode 7 with the promise that LucasFilm will give him another Nazi-fighting adventure of his own."These developments are not in any way official, but they are likewise not surprising. Ford talked about Indy V earlier this month on The Graham Norton Show, stating that he would do another Indy film "in a New York minute." Obviously, this will not be the end of these kind of rumours as the major talking points and rumours continue to revolve around whether or not Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill will reprise their roles. While I am interested to see Ford in the new Star Wars films, do we really want another Indy film? After the debacle that was Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I would rather avoid making things even worse. The ScreenRant article also claims that LucasFilm did agree to beginning development on a new Indy film. They set the release date to sometime before the close of 2016. However, we will have to wait and see what comes from these rumours. Let us know what you think in the comments section below. Do you want Harrison Ford in Star Wars? Is another Indy movie appropriate given his age?
