Wolverine picks the Hood!

Wolverine will hit our screens sometime in the third or fourth quarter of next year, with Gavin Hood directing. Who, you ask? Well Hood is the South African born director who helmed the really impressive Oscar winning Tsotsi a few years back and he is currently working on a thriller with Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal titled Rendition which is set to open in October. It's said that his work on the latter was what really impressed execs at 20th Century Fox, who have done what I said they should have done ages ago... hire a guy who can make a good "thriller". So Hood it would seem is more of a 'real director' than someone like Len Wiseman (who was never the man for this, or Die Hard) and after Bryan Singer was busy and D.J. Caruso turned them down, Hood is an intriguing choice. I certainly will be paying more attention to Rendition when it hits theatres in a few months time. So production begins in November from a script by Troy scribe David Benioff. and Wolverine looks likely to be the last superhero movie out of the blocks next year after Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, John Hancock and The Dark Knight. If I was scheduling it I would have the movie come out in October, make it a real dark and adult themed movie.
