Wonder Woman: 18 WTF Moments

13. The Gas Mask

Dr Poison Wonder Woman
Warner Bros.

We know that whatever the Germans are up to is bad, given it's World War 1 and there's a character called Doctor Poison (!), but it's not until Steve Trevor recounts what he saw that we understand just how horrific it really is.

Poison has been working on a new chemical, and we get to see its effects: a soldier is locked inside a chamber wearing a gas mask, and it nearly destroys the thing completely. Nearly.

Frustrated with the result, Poison has the mask yanked off the man's face, letting him die what is presumably an excruciating death. The movie had shown death before this point, but here it went full horrors of war, including that haunting shot of the mask.
