Wonder Woman 1984 Trailer Review: 8 Ups & 1 Down

2. Steve Trevor's Return Isn't A Gimmick

Wonder Woman 1984 Diana Steve
Warner Bros.

The seemingly impossible return of Steve Trevor may not have been explained in this trailer, but that doesn't matter because it does confirm one thing: It's more than just a senseless gimmick.

Yes, all the praising of WW84's bravery to take risks would have meant nothing if Steve was simply a recurring hallucination in Diana's head or a trick used by the villains of the piece, but from what we can tell, that doesn't appear to be the case. Steve's return seems to be at least remotely authentic and, at the very least, important to the overall story. And it goes without saying that this is a wise choice.

The idea of Gadot's Diana and Chris Pine's Steve setting out on another impossible adventure together, while making up for lost time, still seems almost too good to be true, but at least after this trailer, it seems a little more possible.
