Wonder Woman 1984: What The Post-Credits Scene Actually Means
What will the future of the DCEU and Wonder Woman look like after THAT cameo?
Despite only opening to a quarter of UK cinemas, Wonder Woman 1984 has finally arrived. The sequel to the 2017 blockbuster was delayed from its original release date four different times due to the events of ongoing pandemic.
The film sees Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) face off with Cheetah (Kristen Wiig), while also dealing with the return of the once dead Steve Trevor (Chris Pine). As with pretty much all comic book movies, it also features a post-credits scene, and this one might be the DCEU's most important yet.
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD FOR WONDER WOMAN 1984!
During the closing credits to Wonder Woman 1984, the screen glitches and we are transported to what we can only assume to be Themyscira (the homeland of Wonder Woman herself) to see a woman with long brown/black hair in a blue dress walking down a market street.
One of the supporting beams collapses and the mysterious woman catches it without even looking. Shoppers in the market stop in amazement and want to thank the woman for her help, revealing her to be the original Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter!
One of the members in the market is a young Diana Prince who thanks Asteria for saving her. She tells Diana and the audience "I've been doing this all this time." The scene cuts to show text on the screen introducing the actress as Asteria, an Amazon warrior from Themyscira who was the original wearer of the golden flight armour worn by Wonder Woman in the movie.
