Wonder Woman's release is finally on the horizon, but before fans put their butts in seats and find out for themselves if the critics were right, it's time to consider the biggest, weirdest and most plausible rumours doing the rounds as of late.

It's a superhero movie so, of course, fans started dissecting it before shooting even began, but in recent weeks the speculation has reached a fever pitch, as every frame of footage, scrap of dialogue and potential-maybe leak is picked apart for clues about what the movie has in store.

From absurdly creative theories with little realistic likelihood to more logical, considered analyses of the movie's marketing, these rumours will all be answered in due course, but until then, it's all to play for.

Crow will be eaten and crackpots may be vindicated, but every rumour, from the sensible to the mind-boggling, is ultimately all part of the fun...

9. Bruce Wayne Makes A Cameo

The Rumour: Considering that the marketing has shown at least a small sliver of the movie taking place in the approximate present day, and Wayne Enterprises trucks have been spotted on-set, fans have put two and two together to assume that Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne will make a cameo at the end of the movie.

The most compelling idea is that Diana in fact spends the entire film recounting her earlier adventures to Bruce, before the final reveal sets up Justice League.

How Likely Is It?: Very. It'd be odd for Bruce not to appear considering his presence is clearly hinted at, and his appearance in Suicide Squad makes it pretty clear his acclaimed take on the billionaire superhero is going to be the connective tissue of the DC Extended Universe moving forward.

Then again, his name is still absent from casting lists for the movie despite it already having numerous fan and critical screenings around the globe, unless DC is fiercely scrubbing spoilers from the web at a geometric rate.

Still, it'd be pretty surprising if he didn't appear for even a minute or two. 7/10
