Wonder Woman: 9 Signs It Will Redeem The DCEU
3. The Director Has Serious Chops
As stated before, when Warner Bros. first launched the DCEU the studio promised to let its directors put their own unique spin on the material. In theory, this would help the DCEU distinguish itself from Marvel's assembly-line style of filmmaking, but in practice it turned out that Warner Bros. couldn't stop itself from meddling with its directors' visions. Both Suicide Squad and BvS were hobbled by exec-led interference in the editing room, which is exactly the opposite of what the studio promised.
Now, it seems that Warner Bros. has heeded its own advice and taken a more hands-off approach to Wonder Woman, which is smart considering how talented director Patty Jenkins is. Jenkins' 2003 feature Monster proved that she has the capacity to summon Academy Award-caliber performances from her actresses. Jenkins' talent for bringing out the best in thespians will be pivotal to Wonder Woman's success and, ultimately, the longevity of the Wonder Woman franchise.
So far, there has been no news of editing-room hijinks from the studio so the likelihood that Jenkins was allowed to execute her vision the way she wanted to his high. This could well be an important turning point for the DCEU's trajectory.
