Wonder Woman Reviews: 11 Early Reactions You Need To See

9. Touching And Emotional

Alongside the humour (or lack thereof), another criticism of the DCEU that Wonder Woman seems to address is in its emotional resonance. This isn't just a DC problem to be fair, as not every superhero movie has a big emotional throughline, but there are touching moments in the best of them (see Guardians or Civil War), and it sounds like Wonder Woman has a lot of that.

In part it's likely to be to do with the nature of the film, since WWI is such a devastating conflict, and also the theme of Wonder Woman leaving her homeland behind to fight in the battle. But there's also the fact that this is the first female-led superhero movie in today's current climate, and is every bit as empowering as it needs to be.
