Tone is one of the big enemies standing in the way of the DCEU being critically successful: the movies don't know what sort of films they really want to be, resulting in a jarring feeling of whiplash when the comedic and serious elements mesh together awkwardly.

While it remains to be seen how well director Patty Jenkins will make it work, at least the film seems to have plenty of comic relief potential, largely by way of the interactions between Diana and Etta Candy, Steve's secretary.

At the end of the trailer, Diana is wearing some fancy clothes and, upon inspecting herself in the mirror, says, "How could anyone possibly fight in this?". After explaining that the attire isn't for fighting, Etta amusingly adds, "I am not opposed to engaging in a bit of fisticuffs should the occasion arise", adding in a quick karate-like pose for good measure.

If the DCEU can make one movie that isn't a complete tonal schizoid, that will be a major step in the right direction.
