5. David Murphy - Indecent Proposal (1993)
Six years after Adrian Lyne gave us the "bunny-boiler" in Fatal Attraction, he attempted to repeat the formula with Indecent Proposal. Possessing an equally stellar cast, it follows young sweethearts David (Harrelson) and Diana (Demi Moore), who travel to Las Vegas in the hope of winning enough money to start a business. While there Diana is seduced by billionaire John Gage (Robert Redford), who offers her one million dollars in return for sleeping with him an event which will shake the couple's marriage to the core. Like so many mainstream erotic thrillers which followed Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct, Indecent Proposal is a cheesy, badly-written offering which gives the three protagonists very little to work with. Harrelson doesn't help matters, however, overdoing the jealousy of his character and then turning in a wooden performance during the couple's reconciliation. If you found Tom Cruise's performance in Eyes Wide Shut awkward, this is one erotic thriller that you should definitely pass up. Even for one million dollars.
