WOW: M. Night's desire is UNBREAKABLE

Today we're obsessed with the fact that M. Night Shyamalan has not yet put to bed his desire to make his UNBREAKABLE sequel, a movie he originally planned to follow-up with at the turn of the century but was knocked back when critics weren't so kind to his original picture eight years ago. Though I couldn't help but think that the dislike came from an agenda to knock Shyamalan back after his SIXTH SENSE took off like wildfire and grossed $672 million worldwide. Simply put, in their eyes he could never match that first film. Speaking to MTV, Shyamalan says he gets asked about an UNBREAKABLE 2 all the time...

€œI tell you I get asked about it all the time, so it€™s not I ever forget,€ Shyamalan told MTV News. €œI genuinely just asked this question the other day €” should I make €˜Unbreakable 2€™?€ €œI do love the genre, I just wanna make sure that I€™m able to express who I am,€ explained Shyamalan. €œI don€™t want to get so lost in the subject that I have to neuter everything that€™s me in it, so maybe €˜Unbreakable€™ is the comic book thing I should do €” I keep coming back to that.€
Stars Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis have both in the past expressed their desire to continue the adventures of Elijah Price and David Dunn respectively, it's always been convincing a studio that has been the hard part. But if Shyamalan could get a movie about shaking tree's off the ground with THE HAPPENING, then one would think UNBREAKABLE 2 would be a breeze if he really put his heart and soul into it. Right? I mean it's not like it didn't make money, $248 million worldwide from a $75 million budget and became such a cult favourite on DVD... sequels have been made for much less. The original idea for a second UNBREAKABLE was to see Price break out of a mental institute and cause absolute mass chaos and anarchy, which a now established and much more comfortable with his powers Dunn must try and defeat.
