WWE's Braun Strowman In New Sherlock Holmes Film

... alongside Steve Coogan, of all people.

Braun Strowman Holmes And Watson
Columbia Pictures

Any wrestling fans on the fence about whether to see Will Ferrell's hilarious new take on Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes take note: it features Braun bloody Strowman. Well, for about ten seconds.

The latest trailer for the comedy Holmes & Watson, which stars Ferrell and John C. Reilly in the respective titular roles, shows The Monster Amongst Men make a brief cameo in the context of a wrestling event, which is absolutely guaranteed not to take a sneery, ironic view of the industry. Big Braun gets clocked on the back by Reilley's Watson, as Steve Coogan of all people watches on. Hands up who had those two down to star in a movie together this year.

It'd be a stretch to call this an acting turn for the Strowman, who is effectively playing himself. He's even wearing his WWE gear! Believe it or not, this isn't Braun's first time gracing the silver screen. Back in 2016, before rising to the upper echelons of WWE, the former strongman also played a role close to home, playing a, well, strongman, in Brodie and Cody Lowe's Three Count. Sadly, it has nothing to do with Shane Helms and co.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
