X-Men: Apocalypse - 10 Things That Will Definitely Happen
2. History Will Be Rewritten (And Only A Few Are Safe)
Since Days of Future Past essentially retconned all of the previous X-Men movies out of existence its fair to say that very little is known about what could happen next. The usual safety net of being a prequel to events you know will happen has been removed and who knows who could end up splattered on the floor of this new continuity? Just because characters like Nightcrawler and Angel are making new appearances doesnt mean theyll be living a similar life to the last time we saw them, or even that theyll live to any sort of age. The fact that Apocalypse is showing up in this timeline seems to hint that Magnetos actions at The White House in DOFP's final act may have exposed mutants more than they ever were in the original timeline. Having the worlds oldest mutant come out of hibernation to exterminate the human race and any sympathisers suggests that stopping the Sentinel programme didnt immediately solve everyones problems. Having a new timeline to play with gives Singer and his cowriters plenty of chances to explore the other sides to characters that would have otherwise become familiar so itll be interesting to see where things go from here. That being said, weve already seen a time after the events of X-Men: Apocalypse. The end of DOFP showed Logan waking up in the new future before talking to Beast, Storm, Jean, Scott and Xavier which means that theyre totally safe, which kind of takes away some of the suspense.
