X-Men: Dark Phoenix WonderCon Footage - 10 Reactions You Need To See

9. It's Action-Packed, Brisk, And Intense...

Out of the three X-Men prequel movies we've seen so far (First Class, Days Of Future Past, Apocalypse), 2014's Days Of Future Past is generally regarded as the best, boasting both the highest critic rating and audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

So to hear that the Dark Phoenix WonderCon footage was as good as that movie is a very promising sign indeed.

That was the way Deadline writer Geoff Boucher described the footage in his comprehensive breakdown, stating that the "action-packed" footage was "brisk, evocative, and intense", before comparing it to Days Of Future Past:

"It was easy to expect the worst when the arena lights went down and new footage filled the screen. Instead a funny thing happened. The 10-minute sequence from the first act of Dark Phoenix wasn’t bad - it was, in fact, the opposite of bad. Which is to say it was good. Very good. Like X-Men: Days of Future Past kind of good."

Of course, a few minutes of footage taken out of context in no way reflects the quality of the overall film (the Darth Maul/Obi-Wan/Qui-Gonn fight from Phantom Menace, if it were screened before the movie's release, would probably have resulted in similarly positive reactions), but it's good to hear something positive all the same.
