Though the presence of Quicksilver in the Avengers movie universe complicates matters for who the real character is and whether he's a mutant or otherwise, it's very obvious that Singer's X-Men world is sticking to the more traditional origin, albeit slightly changed. And that includes his parentage - and presumably that of his sister Wanda, who actually appears in the film, and is recognisable for her red hair, though not named - as is confirmed with a simple quip when Magneto shows off his powers after Quicksilver helps him escape his prison, along the lines of:

"You can control metal? My mom knew someone who could do that"
