Vulture have provided Marvel Comics film-verse fans with some long awaited plot details on the currently shooting X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Although much is known about the cast, and director Bryan Singer has posted several photos each week from the set of the movie teasing at what's to come, and the fact this is an adaptation of a popular original novel, it's true to say we haven't had this kind of reveal as to the specific plot details until now. Here's how Vulture put it;
"Ellen Page returns as Kitty from the Brett Ratner€“directed X-Men: The Last Stand, but this time she uses her powers to send Hugh Jackman's Wolverine back into the past, where he encounters the younger mutants played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. However, something bad happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance, and while Wolverine is still under her spell, the other X-Men must race to find a mutant who can siphon Kitty's powers and bring their friend back to the future."
As any comic book fan will be able to instantly see, there are already some minor yet apparent story deviations (Kitty never actually had time travel powers in the graphic novelization) but I'm always down to see Ellen Page in more starring roles. The key problem though could be that we are reaching a bit of overkill on Wolverine movies. Between this and the upcoming Wolverine solo film, Fox are still struggling to put any faith in non-Hugh Jackman led X-Men movies (X-Men: First Class which Hugh Jackman appeared only in cameo form is the least grossing X-movie to date). Doesn't it also seem a missed opportunity that Kitty sends Wolverine back in time and not Ian McKellen's Magneto or one of the other original cast members? Singer could have used Wolverine anyway in the time period without the use of time travel. Regardless, I'm still very skeptical of this attempt at bridging two movie universes together, especially considering The Last Stand wasn't very well received by anyone. If nothing else, Bryan Singer (X-Men, X2) returning to the directors chair and the stacked cast featuring new additions such as Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage as Sentinels creator Bolivar Trask, add a heightened level of starpower and excitement. Other new details revealed by Singer this week include a military themed set image confirming the return of First Class actor Lucas Till as Havok/Alec Summers. For a long while there it looked like him and Banshee from the prequel had been shafted from this film, and although we can't say anything yet for Caleb Landry-Jones' character, it would seem likely he would be involved now this has been revealed;
Interestingly, Singer captioned this behind-the-scenes image with the following statement;

It's also been confirmed that the recently cast Josh Helman will be portraying a young William Stryker, the memorable villain from X-Men 2 that Brian Cox so sinisterly portrayed, and also the same villain Danny Huston played in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. You may recall we met William's father in the American government in the last movie where young Bill got a blink and you'll miss it mention. With the movie set several years later, we will now be introduced to our third different age glimpse into William's life. X-Men Days of Future Past will be released in May of 2014.
