X-Men Apocalypse: 13 Reasons It's A Huge Disappointment

1. Apocalypse Is Actually Killed At The End

Perhaps the movie's biggest surprise and most crushing disappointment is that Apocalypse appears to be definitively killed off at the end without much promise of a return.

The collective attacks of the X-Men eventually allow Jean Grey to vaporise his fragile human form, and as his dusty remains blow away in the wind, so too do our apparent hopes of ever seeing the character again.

While it is perhaps possible that his remnants could somehow reform in the future considering his ability to regenerate, this actually felt pretty definite, and it'd be hugely surprising if he did in fact return sometime down the line. Overall, it just made Apocalypse seem kinda weak and lame compared to his comic book form.

Then again, given how thoroughly underwhelming this version of Apocalypse was, perhaps it's for the best to just move on and try not to screw up the next iconic villain.
