Yo ho, Yo ho......a Pirates life for me!

2depp2.jpgI often think I was born in the wrong century. Somewhere deep inside, I've always thought I should be a pirate! Actually no, to be more accurate, I've always wanted to be a pirate in a movie. Whether it's the drunken rock-star pirate Jack Sparrow, the mysterious Long John Silver, the paranoid and ruthless Captain Hook or the countless romantic swashbuckling heroes portrayed by Errol Flynn..... There's always been something captivating about the imagery and mythical storytelling of Pirate Movies that have effected me. In truth, the classical imagery of Pirates in popular fiction are grossly over glamorized, and really the life of a Pirate was a vicious and depressing one with slavery, bad food, death, disease, loneliness and probably boredom present in every stretch of sea. Why am I babbling on about Pirates today? Two reasons.... First reason is The Hollywood Reporter claim Click director Frank Coraci is to helm the movie Part-Time Piratesfor 20th Century Fox. It's been described as a high adventure comedy that... "revolves around working-class guys who break free from their mundane lives and take to the high seas, raiding the yachts of their greedy former bosses. In the process, they find their manhood by becoming modern-day pirates". Could be fun, but Coraci is notorious for casting Adam Sandler (The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer, Click) which can only spell trouble for the movie. The second reason is that the first trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, which remember, I've said numerous times will be the highest grossing movie of the year...will finally be online March 19th (Monday). Compared to the numerous Spider-Man 3 (Pirates comes out just a few weeks later)trailers we have seen for months now, it's awfully strange and maybe worrying that we haven't seen anything of the movie yet. Apparently we don't have to worry, Quint from AICN has seen the trailer and says.... the trailer kicked ass. Bruckheimer said that PIRATES 1 and 2 were ours hors d'oeuvres for the 3rd flick and the trailer does represent that. Quint kindly describes the trailer scene by scene, which you can read for yourselves by clicking here. source - the hollywood reporter, aicn
