Despite some initial concern that the last thing we all needed was another new take on the famed Clown Prince of Crime, Todd Phillips’ Joker proved to be a monumental hit – as reflected by the $1 billion box office haul of the movie and the recent Golden Globe win for star Joaquin Phoenix.

In amongst the brilliance of Phoenix’s descent into madness, however, it appears we’ve all missed one fantastic piece of detail from director Phillips.

As pointed out by Hidden Easter Eggs on Twitter, the ambulances of Gotham City change throughout Joker to mirror the transformation being undertaken by Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck.

If anything, the smiling, crazy-eyed ambulance look feels extremely reminiscent of Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning turn as the Jester of Genocide in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. Either way, this is an incredible case of attention to detail from Joker – and kudos to any of you who managed to spot this change for yourself.

With the nominees for the 2020 edition of the Academy Awards announced on January 13th, it’s expected that Joker will certainly be in the mix to take home an Oscar or two by the time the 92nd Academy Awards takes place on February 9th.

For those eager to give Joker another watch, there’s not too long to wait as the film hits Blu-ray and DVD on February 10th – by which time it may be labelled an Oscar-winning picture.
