Despite how skeptical New Line Cinema was over The Lord of the Rings being a hit, the first chapter, The Fellowship of the Ring, proved to be a monumental success. When the sequel, The Two Towers, won universal acclaim the following year, it proved its predecessor wasn't a mere fluke.
After nearly 20 years, there are still many moments from LOTR's middle chapter that have stayed with us. The Ents attacking Isengard. The Battle of Helm's Deep. And of course, Andy Serkis' career-defining performance as the deranged hobbit, Gollum.
