Nah, that could never happen!

Young Justice made a triumphant return to screens a few weeks back when its third season debuted on DC's exclusive streaming service, the DC Universe. The show originally ran for two seasons between 2010 and 2013 until its unjust cancellation, before fans mounted an impressive campaign to save it, with DC eventually announcing a revival titled Young Justice: Outsiders.

However, despite being off the air for six years, the characters apparently kept up to date with the events that took place in the superhero world during their absence, as some of them took a jibe at 2016 blockbuster Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In one of the latest episodes released, 'Evolution', Nightwing, Superboy and Artemis took it upon themselves to train the new heroes known as the Outsiders. During a break from training, the heroes ended up getting into a debate about who would win in a fight between Superman and Batman. Superboy would go on to brand the entire debate as "stupid", asking the obvious question: "Why would they ever fight?" Artemis, however, responded rather sarcastically:

"Hm, if they were being controlled by bad guys?"

Her laced comment was met with a brief silence, before Nightwing then looked at her and winked, answering:

"Nah, that could never happen".

This was undoubtedly a cheap shot at Batman v Superman, in which Lex Luthor went to extreme lengths to manipulate the two heroes into battling each other. That film ultimately received criticism from fans, who found it hard to buy that the most powerful being on the planet and the World's Greatest Detective could be controlled so easily, and Nightwing clearly agrees.

DC obviously hasn't taken the criticism to heart and, if anything, this proves that they aren't afraid to laugh at their own shortcomings every once in a while. As a result, this proved to be a fun moment for our inner DC fanboys.
