Zack Snyder aiming for 35-40 year old SUPERMAN?

I dislike posting rumours from third-hand sources but, well, unless he or his people are barefaced liars then 'The Social Network' break-out actor Armie Hammer has revealed an unexpected twist in the casting saga for 'Superman: The Man of Steel'. When pressed on whether Hammer (who you may remember was cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman for George Miller's ill conceived and ultimately unrealised teenage 'JLA' film some years ago) was up for the Clark Kent/Superman role in WB's reboot, the actor told Vulture;
€œI did talk to my people recently about that for the first time, and I think they€™re going a little older with Superman. I hear they€™re going 35, 40.€
That's an interesting and somewhat surprising development. And yes... our heads do now turn to 'Mad Men's John Hamm, whose age was previously seen as his only stumbling block in winning this part. Hamm, the bookies and firm fan favourite, and an actor who we must remember appears in Snyder's next movie 'Suckerpunch' - turns 40 years old in the Spring, which although at the tail end of their reported age requirements, makes him now a much likelier candidate than when we had the 22-33 year old generation in mind. Chris Nolan is 'Godfathering' (aka - keeping tabs on Snyder's personal eccentricities) the movie that we previously heard would find;
Clark Kent a journalist traveling the world trying to decide if he should, in fact, even become Superman.
Who thinks a Warner Bros. press release round about now would be a good way to go to clear all this talk up?
