Zack Snyder's Justice League: 10 New Characters We'll See In The Snyder Cut
The #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign worked, but which new characters will we see?
Much to the surprise of, well, everyone, the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign paid off, and Warner Bros. will release Zack Snyder's Justice League on the HBO Max streaming service next year. Upwards of $30 million is being spent on finishing the film, and it's quite obvious from the director's constant Vero teases that this version will be much different to the one seen in cinemas back in November.
Right now, WarnerMedia is still trying to decide whether Justice League is going to be a four-hour director's cut or a six-part limited series, but there's quite clearly a lot of footage for Snyder to play with.
As you might expect, that means fans will get to see some characters who didn't make it into the reshot version of the film The Avengers director Joss Whedon (who hasn't landed a directing gig since) was responsible for. Some are vastly different versions of familiar faces, while others are completely new and were nowhere to be found in the theatrical cut.
It's crazy to think that these heroes and villains have been left on the cutting room floor for the past three years, but Zack Snyder's Justice League (that's the official title) promises to finally give them their due...
10. Martian Manhunter
You'll no doubt recall the meeting between Lois Lane and Martha Kent which was punctuated by a silly, and not even remotely funny news report playing in the background, but in Snyder's Justice League, that was supposed to have a much different ending.
As Martha got up to leave, she would have transformed into Martian Manhunter on the other side of the door before turning into Man of Steel character General Swanwick. This was meant to confirm that the shape-shifting hero from Mars had been keeping an eye on Superman and the rest of the Justice League from the start, and would have introduced fans to a key member of the team.
Martian Manhunter's role beyond that is unclear, and Snyder never actually shot the scene (instead, it has only ever been revealed as a storyboard). However, following comments from Harry Lennix on social media, it looks likely that he will return to shoot this sequence as a favour to Snyder.
