10 Amazing Games You Didn't Realise Aged HORRIBLY
8. Ico

For the great many wondering why Ico hasn't received the same glossy remake treatment that its successor Shadow of the Colossus has, it's most likely because Sony is acutely aware just how much work would be needed to bring Ico up to modern gameplay expectations.
Though Ico is absolutely a vital piece of gaming history - namely, one of the strongest early arguments for games as art in an era where they commanded much less respect - its gameplay just doesn't hold up at all.
Escort missions are divisive at the best of times, but Ico is basically one long six-hour escort mission, and one that's harangued by clunky, floaty controls, an infuriating camera, stiff animations, slack pacing, and a general lack of forward momentum compared to Shadow of the Colossus.
Ico is definitely a game to admire, but if someone played an hour of it today and then just decided to watch the rest on YouTube instead of suffer through the wading-through-treacle gameplay, it'd be tough to blame them.
