Cursed items are nothing uncommon in the world of Baldur’s Gate 1, but none of them offers quite as much power (and hilariously chaotic trouble) as the Cursed Berserking Two-Handed Sword.

The Cursed Berseking sword, or The Cursed Berseking +3 sword if you’re a stickler for proper terminology, is a melee weapon that you can get by solving Captain Brage’s riddle or killing him and looting it off his body.

The blade is one of the most damage-dealing items in the game, but it also comes with a price—it puts its wielder in an uncontrollable killing frenzy, which drives them to attack anyone, including their own allies!

If any of your party members has the blade equipped, as soon as they enter combat, they will become mad and swing the sword at the first creature within their sight until the battle is over.

This can be great when you’re surrounded by a horde of enemies, as the blade will slice through them like butter, but at the same time, you should keep plenty of healing potions handy, since there’s a pretty big chance the sword’s wielder will be the last person standing.

Alternatively, you can always just pivot to a single-character playthrough…
