10 Announcements We Desperately Want To Hear At E3
6. Resident Evil Reboot Revealed
The Resident Evil series has encountered an unfortunate decline in recent years, taking the impressive technical overhaul of Resident Evil 4 and going too far with it, transforming the franchise from suspenseful survival horror into overly action-orientated gameplay. By the release of Resident Evil 6, much of the game's chapters felt like boring, generic slogs rather than intense fights to stay alive. Despite being one of Capcom's best-selling titles, RE6 was considered a disappointment for the company, and this combined with the heavily mixed reviews caused rumours to suggest that the series may undergo a reboot for its seventh entry. Whether it will be called RE7 or something else remains to be seen, though it is widely expected that Capcom will show off the game at this year's E3, firing all guns blazing in the hope that they can restore their franchise's former good name. A return to the survival horror genre is a must, though hopefully we haven't seen the last of beloved characters like Leon, Claire, Chris, Jill and of course, Wesker.
