10 Awesome Facts We Just Learned About Upcoming Games
7. The Last Of Us Part II Has Wrapped Filming Its Cinematics
This past week, The Last of Us Part II's director Neil Druckman confirmed that motion capture photography has been completed on the game, with stars Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson filming their final cinematics for the hugely anticipated AAA blockbuster.
This is an especially significant piece of news as it likely provides us with an idea of when the game will finally be released.
Though it might seem to suggest that The Last of Us Part II is still a good while away from being in gamers' hands, Naughty Dog's production process is quite distinct from the rest of the industry, with mo-cap work usually being iterated on until quite shortly before release.
Take Uncharted 4, for instance, which saw star Nolan North complete mo-cap for Nathan Drake in mid-October 2015, and the game ended up releasing in May 2016 (after initially aiming for March).
As such, it's actually quite possible that the action-thriller sequel ends up releasing as soon as September of this year, or more likely November, rather than the much-predicted 2020 date.
Above all else, the game is clearly in the final phase of development now, and bar any production hiccups, fans won't be waiting too long for an official release date (or the actual release itself).
