5. Cyberpunk 2077
The Trailer
Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most built-up video games in the entire industry in recent memory. Your scribe was 15 when the first trailer for this game dropped on YouTube, and it was one of the most unreal things I had ever seen.
It stayed in the back of my mind until 2018 when proper gameplay trailers started being shown off. All of them were fantastic, showing the game as everything those years of waiting had promised.
Complex RPG mechanics, gorgeous visuals, and Keanu F*cking Reeves. How could this possibly go wrong?
The Game
Well, the game was a buggy, barely playable mess, for one thing. While recent patches have cleaned the game up to better resemble the game we all thought we'd get, that original release lives in infamy and the game has yet to fully live it down.
The glitches were so wild that, for a lot of people, they stopped being aggravating and just became funny. And also, I'm sorry, I love Keanu, but he was just the wrong choice for Johnny Silverhand.
Johnny Silverhand is cool, but he's also a huge prick, and Keanu just can't match that energy.
