Four Player off-line survival horror Co-Op: What more could a gamer ask for? Playing heavily upon American teen movies. ObScure cast its players as a group of All-American High School sophomores Mutated creatures swarm the campus and it's up to five stereotypes to stop them €“ think Breakfast club meets Evil Dead, with a bit of Little shop of horrors thrown in to mix things up. Obscure encourages the player to think fast and react even faster. This is a game in which even the slightest mistake can result in permanent death for your character. That's right: Perma-Death. How many games feature that these days? When a player dies, the game will randomly chose one of the few remaining High Schoolers' as your character. As each character has their own personality, seeing one die at the hands of a sunlight-phobic abomination is tough to watch. The nightmarish creatures that populate the campus are adverse to sunlight. Conventional weaponry is sparse and often ineffective so players will need to rely on quick thinking and the use of makeshift weaponry For example, flashlights can also be taped to any weapon, turning even the mot mundane handgun into an instrument of Duracell powered death. (Take note Doom 3) It also features one of the most engaging intros to any horror game I've ever played. Play it with a friend -- I'm not even going to discuss the first ten minutes. If you play the game you'll thank me for keeping this spoiler free. As ObsCure faded into, well, obscurity; a gaming-industry anomaly occurred. ObsCure 2 was announced. Games with low sales figures are rarely often granted such an honour. ObsCure 2 was released in 2005 across multiple platforms and proved just as unpopular as its predecessor.
