8. The Sopranos: Road to Respect

It should not be hard to make a fun game about The Sopranos; bash out a half-decent GTA clone with the show's recognisable characters and it would probably pass muster, but this is just absolute dreck. Though smartly positioning itself between seasons five and six, there's just nothing of interest here. While the majority of the show's major cast members do lend their voices, it's in favour of a story that, even with creator David Chase's involvement, makes little sense, and numerous characters make decisions completely out of, well, character. Gameplay meanwhile largely pitches Road to Respect as a gangster-beating sim, while superficial attempts to make the game seem more deep - a respect meter, for instance - are largely inconsequential to all the beating. Visuals even for the time are poor, and the game clearly hasn't been quality-tested, because just a cursory play-through of the first level will reveal a shocking number of texture glitches and clipping problems.
