10 Beloved First-Person Shooter Video Games That Need Rebooting
4. Star Wars: Jedi Knight
Epic multiplayer skirmishes in Star Wars Battlefront are all well and good, but the universe needs another traditional Star Wars FPS to bring the true power of the Force to modern consoles.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away the Jedi Knight series - which began with Dark Forces in 1996 - sated our hunger for such experiences, but they’re harder to come by these days.
The original Dark Forces was the offspring of Doom and Star Wars, merging traditional shooter staples with puzzles, a gripping story and memorable power-ups.
Sequels Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy built on this framework and still hold cult status, but now is the time for the series to make like Obi-Wan and return to us in spirit.
With a new Star Wars movie trilogy yet to hit the midway point and Rogue One’s recent acclaim adding renewed credibility to the brand, the appetite for a Dark Forces/Jedi Knight reboot is certainly there.
