10 Beloved Franchises That Haven't Been Good In A WHILE

The Fallout Amazon series wasn't just a triumph for Bethesda's futuristic shooter, but for video game adaptations in general. It was such a hit, it's easy to forget how mind-bogglingly terrible the last instalment is.

Even though Fallout '76 is the franchise's only real blunder, it's not encouraging when the lead developer himself, Todd Howard stated, "There was very little we didn't screw up" about the project. And based on the prequel's endless glitches, barren terrains, minimal NPCs, and incomplete designs, Howard's words felt anything but hyperbolic.

Though Fallout isn't out of the race just yet, it's depressing to reflect on the post-apocalyptic property as a whole. For the longest time, Fallout was one of the most consistent gaming IPs out there. And now, we haven't had a great entry in a decade.

And based on the meh reception of Starfield, which was developed by Bethesda and overseen by Todd Howard, the fanbase are concerned Fallout's best days have come and gone.

Although Fallout 5 is in the works, it won't be the company's top priority until after Elder Scrolls VI. This sequel may turn things around, but we'll be waiting a long time before that day comes.
