4. The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Electronic Arts

The first Lord Of The Rings game from EA, The Two Towers combined events from the first two entries of the film trilogy to deliver an incredibly satisfying hack-and-slash experience.

One of this title's most notable features was how it transitions seamlessly from footage from the movies to gameplay. Whether it was the opening battle from The Fellowship Of The Ring to the heroes arriving at the Doors of Durin, players feel like they're jumping straight into the action of their favourite scenes.

For as brilliantly as this title captures the spirit of the movies, it's the combat where this game is at its best.

After the tutorial, players choose whether to play as Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli as they face an onslaught of enemies throughout each level. As each playable character levels up, players can unlock more powerful combos to dispatch even more orcs. Land enough combos without getting hit, and players will enter Perfect mode to do even more damage and feel like an unstoppable hero.

With the ability to play each level as different characters, each with their own unique combos, there's plenty of replay value to keep players coming back to this amazing LOTR game.
