10 Best Post-Apocalyptic Games To Play Until Fallout 4 Arrives

7. Wasteland 2: Director's Cut

Just by looking at Wasteland 2's development team you know that this game and its prospects are in good hands. The combined efforts of Obsidian (Fallout: New Vegas) and InXile (headed by Bryan Fargo, creator of Fallout 1 and 2) work to great effect, delivering an old-school RPG experience with beautiful modern-day presentation. You control a band of up to seven characters, called Rangers, and head out into the eponymous wasteland of America in search of whoever murdered one of the group's leading members. As you'd expect from RPG like this, the main storyline is less fascinating than just roaming around, picking up side-quests, and doing a bit of good old-fashioned exploration. The recently-released Director's Cut marks the game's debut on PS4 and Xbox One, updating the engine to Unity 5, as well as making various other minor tweaks and enhancements. Similarity to Fallout 4: Coming from developers involved across several of the Fallout games, Wasteland 2 is filled with fantastic side-quests and dialogue. It's a decidedly more hardcore game than the upcoming Fallout will be, with a focus on tactical, turn-based combat and a semi-top-down perspective that will particularly please old-school Fallout fans.
