After it was surprise-released by developers Tango Gameworks in January, colourful rhythm-action game Hi-Fi Rush has since become one of the best reviewed games of 2023 so far. With its vibrant art design, slick and in-depth combat, and cast of memorable characters, it’s not hard to understand why this game currently sits at a solid score of 89 on Metacritic.

Playing as plucky protagonist Chai, each level saw players face-off in fast paced, bombastic battles against waves of enemies where getting that coveted S Rank required mastering the combat- all whilst keeping in time to the pulsating beat which constantly drove the action forward.

Even though Hi-Fi Rush arrived on Game Pass on the day it was announced, general audiences didn’t want to give this title a try.

Insider Jeff Grubb reported that - per an inside source from Microsoft - Hi-Fi Rush allegedly “didn’t make the money it needed to make." Taking this alongside achievement data which proves that only a small percentage of players got through the campaign, it shows that players weren't clicking with what the developers created.

Still, Hi-Fi Rush is a game that Game Pass subscribers should absolutely check out.
