10 Best RPGs From 1990 - 1999

1. The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

Fallout 2
Bethesda

Developed by Bethesda Softworks and released in 1996, Daggerfall is a mammoth of a game. While in recent years Bethesda may be the subject of ridicule, in the past they created excellent games. Daggerfall sees you take the position of agent for the emperor who has been sent to the Illiac Bay on a mission to investigate a mystery.

RPGs often boast about large worlds, but none are as large as Daggerfall. The land in this game is about the same size as Great Britain. Sure 99% of this is randomly generated, but it is still quite a feat for the time.

While the main missions are great, the real depth of this game comes from the world that they are set in. There are so many factions and guilds you will never be lost for things to do. Dungeons in this game are also randomly generated, so you will never know what to expect.

This game contains so much to do and so many details that you will always find something new, you will constantly find yourself going back to it. With a source port just being released there is no reason not to enjoy one of the greatest RPGs ever made.
