The Witcher 3 showcases my favourite form of power-up and it does so in such a smooth, typical sense that still adds something to an already rich world. Everyone and their mother has played or knows about The Witcher 3, we all have some kind of experience with the masterpiece.

However, I’m sure some players didn’t find or bother to continue finding the game’s Places of Power, which is completely fair enough when you only take a quick glance at them.

In short, they intensify one of your signs, which are the different types of powers you have as a Witcher. One is mind based, one allows the player to manipulate kinetic energy, another gives you an over-shield. Usually, they’re a bit fiddly to deal with and can often get in the way of your traditional sword swinging combat.

However, having your favourite sign buffed, even temporarily, is very useful if you’re about to go out questing. The secondary purpose of a Place of Power is to give the player a skill point. Whether you care about the sign buff or not, here is your real prize.

You can roam around the world, adventuring and frolicking and be rewarded with skill points. One part is temporary, the other part will help you on your way to levelling into a grand Witcher.
