10 Best Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)

1. Elden Ring

Even though each Soulsborne seems to improve upon the last, FromSoftware may have peaked with Elden Ring. Simply put, the sprawling fantasy title perfects every element from its predecessors.

Although previous titles had well-structured open-worlds, The Land Between Worlds is in its own league, especially when players bear witness to the luscious land of Limgrave in the opening. More detail, history, and thought was put into each side-quest than the average developer puts into an entire game.

You're given free-rein, allowing you to explore anyway you see fit from the get-go. Getting lost is guaranteed but it rarely feels inconvenient as you regularly stumble upon fascinating characters, compelling lore, riveting enemies, and useful equipment.

Of all the Souls games, Elden Ring provides the greatest challenge. Ironically, it happens to be the most accessible, since the non-linear gameplay allows you to face the toughest regions in your own time and when you've attained enough experience. (Except Malenia. Nobody is ready for the bout.) And with 100+ bosses to fight and countless areas to explore, you aren't going to run out of things to do for a long, long time.

Though it initially looked like Elden Ring had no room for improvement, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC proved FromSoftware's well of innovation was far from empty.

Despite the fact many hyped titles are on the way, including GTA VI, Ghost of Yotei, and Metroid Prime Beyond, Elden Ring could very well maintain its reputation as the best game of the decade.
